Samm Bennett solo videos:
songs using the WaveDrum The KORG WaveDrum, made for a brief period in the 1990s, is the most advanced and sophisticated electronic percussion instrument ever made. Using a technology called physical modeling synthesis (which the KORG company initially developed for first use with the WaveDrum), the instrument is capable of an astonishing range of sound, from very realistic tabla, udu and other drum sounds, to a whole range of sounds which only the WaveDrum can produce. The sensitivity and response that the instrument boasts is every bit as subtle as that of an acoustic drum. Whereas most electronic percussion instruments before and since the original WaveDrum have been, essentially, boxes of digital samples which the player triggers with hands or sticks, and which have little to no possibilities for finesse in expression, the WaveDrum, with its ultra-responsive interface and sophisticated algorhythms, reacts to the slightest gestures and playing methods of the performer. Samm has spent more than a decade customizing the sounds of the instrument and exploring its possibilities, and has, perhaps more than anyone else on the global music scene, embraced the WaveDrum as a solo instrument of choice. 8 videos featuring WaveDrum in solo concerts
