BIG SYSTEM

Samm Bennett and Nii Tete bring to this project a love of propulsive polyrhythm and spontaneous musical interaction. It's a high-energy, cross-cultural groove explosion!

Their work together is based on a shared love and respect for the musical traditions from which they've each evolved, and most of all a keen interest in creating something fresh. 
Nii's kpanlogo drums, djembe and talking drum meet Samm's one string guitar and/or electronic WaveDrum plus toys and gadgets of all manner, in a delightfully surprising musical conversation that is playful, joyful and full of life.

Nii, from Accra, Ghana, comes from a long line of master drummers, but is bringing his solid traditional music roots straight into the future! In BIG SYSTEM, his deep groove is a powerful foundation into which Samm weaves his neo-primitive song stylings and improvisational aesthetic.

Vocally, the duo features a combination of Samm's blues-based song work and Nii's Ghanaian traditional songs, making for a unique meeting of trans-global voices.
