But smaller versions of that band will be doing shows from time to time, also, and will be known as… King Cake Baby Jr. Makes sense, right? This time around it's a duo version, featuring yours truly on the drums and vocal, with piano man Matt Gillan on the ivories. We'll be providing the musical entertainment for a big Third Anniversary event being thrown by the wonderful folks of Writer's Bloc Tokyo. |

Sabaco is a good little venue with a great sound system: really fat and warm and BIG sound without being especially loud. The master is a hi-fi freak, and his sound system shows it. The Jimmies love it!

It's the big 23rd installment of DRUNK POETS SEE GOD, where some of Tokyo's most daring and engaging wordsmiths get on the mic and show their stuff. Hosted by by yours truly, Samm Bennett, along with singer and poet Sorcha Chisolm, this is the place to be for those who want to keep abreast of the latest in loquacious lingo! I'll be on hand (as well as other musicians, depending) to provide instantaneous musical backing to any poet who might happen to want it, and all are welcome to read, recite, intone, chant, grumble, shout or otherwise enunciate. Fun stuff, serious stuff, flights of fancy, hilarity, stream of semi-consciousness, heaping helpings of free association and extended elocution. Hooray!
Come early (opens at 7pm) to sign up for a slot, if you want to get on the mic and let us hear what you got to say. Otherwise, just roll in for a drink and a listen! 500 yen entry charge, plus 1 drink.

We had a great first gig last month, and this second one will be even better, don'tcha just know it! Well be playing your favorite New Orleans tunes by NOLA icons such as Professor Longhair, Huey "Piano" Smith, Dr. John, the Meters and more, plus original tunes in the New Orleans spirit, that's right! The show will take place at a most unusual venue… the Tokyo Masonic Center, which is located right next door to Tokyo Tower. It's a big room, a ballroom-type room, that we'll be playing in, so, no jamming yourself into a crowded basement this time around. Room to breathe, room to move, room to… dance! Yessiree. Cause KCB's got those funky N'awlins grooves going ON, perfect for shaking your money maker!
