"Nine strings and a thousand songs", that's our motto, friends! Ace guitarist Daisuke Kuroda and I will bring you a whole slew of tunes, originals and covers, to enliven your Sunday evening at everybody's favorite English-style pub, What the Dickens. Come on over for some great beers and ales on tap and good hearty English pub food to go with our tunes about trains and trouble, murder and mudslides, donuts and dancing, whisky and wandering! Even a love song or two!
We'll be going on after the monthly First Sunday poetry event, with more or less continuous music from 8-ish on. No music charge, free entry! Leaves you more money to spend on beer. |

Time again for the smoke to bend! Our recent Official Reunion gig in September was an immediate return to form for this ultra-grooving unit, with Numa-san on drums and Takaoka-san on tuba jumping right back into the fray, and cooking it up just like the old days. We're keeping it going, then, it would seem, so y'all come over to Barrelhouse, a friendly and funky bar in funky ol' Ikebukuro. We'll funk it up for you, no doubt.

open 19:00 - start 19:30 - ENTRY: 1000 yen (+ 1 drink)
This is gonna be a great night, y'all! It'll be alternating sets from the wonderful Ciara Shaugnessy and her band AND yours truly in duo with bassist Hisa Nakase. Some of you may know Hisa as the bass player in my New Orleans second line-style band, King Cake Baby, or from any of a number of bands he plays with around town, INCLUDING... Ciara's band! Speaking of Ciara, she is blessed with an absolutely lovely voice and her material is chosen carefully from the American country and folk canon, plus some Irish and other material. Really looking forward to sharing the evening with these fine musicians.
There's a full bar and some very tasty food avalable (I especially recommend their curry, or the onigiri and pickles set, both of those are dee-lish), and we'll do alternating 20 to 25 minute sets: Bennett-Nakase followed by Chiara's band, and then once more like that. Ace soundman Kato Yasuhito will be at the mixing desk, so you can be assured of top notch sound for the evening as well! Guaranteed to please.

Below: video directions to Never Never Land. NOTE: The station has been remodeled since I made this video, so the exit is in a different place. The new exit is very close to the Daimaru Peacock, though, and after that everything's the same as you see in the video.
