Hi Dee Ho
i looked up at the sky last night
something about the moon just didn’t seem right it was waxing and waning right before my eyes then my daddy walked by wearin’ a cheap disguise i said daddy tell me who you trying to fool you‘re opening yourself up to ridicule he said never you mind and remember someday son you’ll understand the crazy things i done and i thought to myself hi dee hi dee ho where did my bright shiny future go i guess i’m gonna be the last to know hi dee hi dee hi dee hi dee ho then my daddy climbed up onto a mule a skinny old mule, looked like he was fixin’ to die my daddy said son this mule is thirsty but he only drinks whisky, he only drinks rye i said i ain’t got no whisky or rye to be sharing all i got are these clothes i’m wearing sad to say, dad, but that’s how i’m faring then came a parade with the trumpets blaring and i thought to myself . . . seven seconds later the parade was gone and so was my daddy i was all alone except for that creature standing by my side yes my daddy had left me that mule to ride i climbed up on ‘im and off we went i had a vague feeling of discontent i rode him to the river then he fell down dead and i remembered something else that my daddy once said he told me boy don’t you ever take no bad advice but over the years i guess i have, once or twice and some might say i’ve lived a life of sin i took a look at that river and jumped right in floating down the river i saw a stranger on the bank for some reason i thought that he was someone i should thank looked up at the sky and once again i saw the moon i waved to the stranger, saying see you again real soon and i thought to myself . . .credits |
