Expect some blues-esque improvisations and churning urns of groove from this trio, featuring Samm on drums, Daysuke Takaoka (from the Smoke Benders) on tuba and, visiting from Osaka, Baku on guitar.
NOTE: early START time is 2 pm. Yup, 14:00 start, this is a DAYTIME gig! And keep in mind that there's very good hot food available at Barrelhouse. The master is a very, very impressive chef (really) who takes great care in selecting his ingredients (often organic, always delicious). He is quite creative, and you will enjoy the food there, guaranteed.

This will be the 2nd appearance of this new trio, featuring Samm on drums and/or WaveDrum, Daysuke Takaoka (from the Smoke Benders) on tuba and electronically enhanced tuba, and Tsuneyasu Inoue on guitar.
Our inaugural gig last month (December 2011) was a very rewarding journey into multi-rhythmic and textural aural layering. An intriguing three-way dialog of slippery cross rhythms, flowing through washes and waves of tectonic sonics. Like cloud formations passing over mountaintops: sometimes clearing them, sometimes brushing the peaks and dividing, sometimes diving deep into the valleys, where they disperse and recollect as they ascend once more.

The amazing Jyoji Sawada is one of Tokyo's most accomplished and creative bass players. Some of you may know him from the exceptionally tasty Brazilian music trio Choro Club. Others might have heard him in other contexts, cause he's a pretty busy player-about town. Samm has played with him on occasion, over the years, and their musical dialogue is a strong and satisfying one. But this evening isn't just about music... there'll be some bondage (緊縛) going on! This will be the 2nd time Samm and Jyoji have accompanied bondage master Go Arisue.
