there came a low low rumbling sound
like nothin' I'd ever heard or felt before then the building i was in started swaying back and forth that's when i headed for the door got outside into a big parking lot i saw the ground move like waves upon the water i started feeling seasick but most of all you know i was thinkin' 'bout my wife and my daughter march eleven two thousand eleven a day i'll never forget now folks i don't carry a mobile phone but it wouldn't-a been no good anyway all those mobile networks you know they came crashing down on that day so i walked about a mile and found a pay phone praise the lord there's still a few of those around rang up my wife, and when i heard her voice lord what a relief was that sound march eleven two thousand eleven a day i'll never forget so she and my little girl were OK my worries were eased all rght i found a place to sleep, in a booth in a restaurant while the aftershocks shook me all night next morning i was able to catch me a train a train back to Tokyo town passed through the graveyard near my house some boddhisatvas had fallen down march eleven two thousand eleven a day i'll never forget now me and my family were lucky my wife and my daughter and me but the mighty mighty wave, the mighty ol’ tsunami carried thousands and thousands out to sea now the earth provides us with sustenance but it reminded us on that day that we walk through this life on shaky ground the earth giveth and taketh away march eleven two thousand eleven a day i'll never forget Copyright Samm Bennett - all rights reserved back to Lyrics Table of Contents |
