Samm Bennett : Tokyo Live Schedule for March 2026
サム・ベネット : 2026年 3月の東京ライブ・スケジュール
Hello friends, Samm Bennett here, hope to see you at one or more of these upcoming shows!
FRI 3/6 : Samm Bennett & Carl Stone DUO at Morgan Salon (Daitabashi)
CARL STONE (Live Electronics) & SAMM BENNETT (Devilish Devices) Door 7:00pm, live 7:30pm.
In Morgan Salon (near Meidaimae, Tokyo) (Close Encounter #39).
Carl Stone and Samm Bennett have worked together off and on for many years now, in various contexts, both as a duo and together with other improvisors. This time around, Samm will be making joyful noise with his tabletop cigar box guitar setup (AKA The Table, AKA Devilish Devices), and will bring improvised vocals into the mix as well. Carl will be coaxing from his laptop his trademark array of mind-bending, time-stretched, turned-inside-out samples, as well as grabbing and processing Samm’s live sounds, in real time (AKA A Real Good Time). Expect the unexpected as these two veteran improvisors explore hitherto uncharted sonic realms for your ear’s edification! Host Morgan Fisher will also join the duo for some swirling splendiferous sound. Don't miss it!!!
CARL STONE has pioneered live computer music since 1986. US culture magazine The Village Voice named him “the king of sampling” and “one of the best composers in the USA today.” He studied at California Institute of the Arts with Morton Subotnick and James Tenney. As a radio broadcaster he interviewed luminaries such as Brian Eno, Frank Zappa, Terry Riley, and Harold Budd. As a music columnist he wrote for Sound & Recording Magazine, Other Minds, and the John Cage Trust. He is emeritus professor of Media Engineering at Chukyo University in Nagoya. Carl now divides his time between Los Angeles and Japan, while his award-winning electro-acoustic works are performed worldwide. In his laptop performances, Carl creates stunning sonic tapestries using the unique software he has created.

SUN 3/8 : Samm Bennett & Isao Ohashi DUO at What the Dickens (Ebisu)
I'm happy to announce the 2nd live show from this new duo. Isao Ohashi is a wonderfully inventive guitarist with a great sound, playing his very unique 4-string electric guitar from Thailand. I'll be on the traditional American 1-string diddley bow and vocals. Our material so far is mostly all covers of 60s and 70s era tunes by artists such as Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Beatles, Stones, Los Lobos,
Chuck Berry, Joni Mitchell, Temptations, etc. Lotsa fun playing this stuff on our combined 5 strings! Hope you'll come over to the Dickens and partake of the sounds.
Music from 8pm to 11pm
FREE entry
