at DRUNK POETS SEE GOD, vol. 1
at Bar Gari Gari, Ikenoue, Tokyo
飛田ビルB1, 2−45−9
open/start 19:00
admission: price of one drink!
This is the inaugural event of a new series where we'll be presenting musicians alongside poets and spoken-word performers. Mix and match, instant collaborations, songs sung and poems pronounced. Literary, yes, but decidedly not stuffy or pretentious. Seize the mic!
In addition to poets and spoken word artists (including the amazing Frank Spignese!) there'll also
be music by singer/songwriter Sorcha Chisholm.

Note: Bar Gari Gari is so close to the station that it's almost funny. If you take the elevator down from Ikenoue Station (Keio Inokashira line) Gari Gari will be immediately visible when the elevator door opens. You could make it from the station to the venue in a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR
and stay dry as a bone. Almost. It's close, friends. Ikenoue Station is only five stops past
Shibuya (local train!), and one stop past Shimokitazawa.

SAT 11/24 : Samm Bennett SOLO
plus the Psychedelic Microwaves and Tokuhisa William
at Nana Hari, Hatchobori, Tokyo
〒104-0033 - 東京都中央区新川 2-7-1
オリエンタルビル地下 七針
(3 minutes walk from Hatchobori station - Hibiya line)
open: 18:30 - start: 19:00
admission: 1800 yen
Samm will be doing a solo set focussing on various one-stringed instruments (diddley bows!) - running them through pitch slitherizers, oscillimbulatrixes and assorted whumbugglybiggles, which, as you might imagine, change the sound and alter the weather patterns in remote provinces of Siberia. There may be songs about trains, the moon and stove pipe hats, not necessarily in that order.
The Psychedelic Microwaves (or, the Psych Micros, as they are lovingly referred to in certain parts of the former Belgian Congo)
are an Australian duo, currently touring Japan.
William Tokuhisa is a simply amazing vocal artist who must be seen to be believed!

TUE 11/27 : Bennett - Gebbia - Iwami trio
NOTE: NOT at Velvet Sun (Ogikubo) as previously announced!
at Sabaco, Waseda
open 19:00 - start 20:00
admission: 2000 yen (includes 1 drink)
The first show from this new trio (on the 21st of this month) was really exciting, and the band is sure to stir up plenty of sizzling, swirling improvisations this time around. Don't miss it!
Directions: take exit 3B from the Waseda metro station (Tozai line), and turn right out of the station exit. Go to the next big intersection, turn left (there's a huge red temple gate there, and a koban - you should walk on the same side of the street as the koban) It's just up the hill from there, on your right, across from Waseda University campus. It's about a three-minute walk from the station.
