open 15:00 - start 16:00 / entry: one drink purchase and pass the hat for musicians!
Cheshmeh is one of the nicest and friendliest venues in this big ol' Tokyo town, and for two days (Nov 3rd and 4th) they're marking the occasion with performances by a wide range of musicians and dancers and such. If you don't know the venue, this will be a good opportunity to come out and get the vibe. The photo of yours truly just above was snapped at Cheshmeh, and captures a bit of the warm ambience of the place.
I'll be doing a 30-minute set of solo songs on the second night, from 21:10 to 21:40.
Before and after me are a number of fine performers, so be sure and check out the full roster of talent at the Facebook Event Page for Cheshmeh's 4th Anniversary (Nov 3rd & 4th).

open & start 18:00 / entry ¥1500(1Drink付)
This will be the second time around for this full on rocking trio to take the stage, y'all, and we enjoyed it so thoroughly last time we decided to even give ourselves a band name: we are ...
the ITSY BITSY SPIDERS. Yatta! We got solidly funky bassist Shimaji Masahico and psych-guitar maestro Tabata Mitsuru, with yours truly thumping the tubs and doing a wee bit of vocalizing here and there. Several other cool acts on the bill in this action packed evening, at the wonderful Bonobo.

SAT 11/18 : KING CAKE BABY ~ "Mardi Gras Sounds for Tokyo Town"
at Cuzn Homeground, Asakusa, Tokyo
music from 20:00 to 23:00 / entry: pass the hat!
music from 20:00 to 23:00 / entry: pass the hat!
That good ol' New Orleans Mardi Gras spirit and sound is what King Cake Baby brings to Tokyo, don'tcha just know it? And we're very psyched to be playing, for the first time, a very cool and funky venue in wonderful, eccentric Asakusa, called Cuzn Homeground. I sat in on percussion recently there, with a friend's band, and the atmosphere was just fun and lively as all get out! A great mix of foreigners (many just passing through town, backpackers and such, staying at the hostel just above the joint) and Asakusa locals. And we'll have the great Jeff Curry on bass for this one, Jeff really tears it up!
As ever, we'll be doing music made famous by folks like Dr John, the Meters, Professor Longhair, Huey "Piano" Smith... plus a few of our originals here and there. Come on down!

at Zart, Yokohama
open 19:00 - start 19:30 / entry: ¥1000
open 19:00 - start 19:30 / entry: ¥1000
It'll be great to get back aboard the Metaphors train, it's been too long since we've taken our drums, whistles, bells and rattles out for a spin together! And our opening act, PosuPosu Otani is a very unique and idiosyncratic singer/songwriter who should be heard, for sure.
SAT 11/25 : KING CAKE BABY ~ "Mardi Gras Sounds for Tokyo Town"
at Never Never Land, Shimokitazawa, Tokyo
open 19:00 / start 20:00 - entry: ¥1500 plus drink
open 19:00 / start 20:00 - entry: ¥1500 plus drink
Come getcha summa that good ol' New Orleans Mardi Gras spirit, King Cake Baby style! Shake it up on the dance floor or just tap your feet, either way is A-OK, at the friendly, well-worn Never Never Land, down in deepest Shimokitazawa! A fine place to let your hair down and dig some relaxed and spontaneous musical fun! For this one, keyboard wiz Matt and yours truly will be joined by our stalwart bassist Hisa Nakase, and we'll be bringing you those tunes made famous by Professor Longhair, Dr John, the Meters and many more. Plus a coupla my original numbers, done with that New Orleans flavor, of course.
