The Bennett-Kuroda duo has been my focus, band-wise, for a couple of months now: we've been doing a lot of shows (4 just last month) and we're keeping it rolling with two in a row for the first weekend in November!
This first one will find us at the cozy Asakusa venue Infinity Books, the site of singer/guitarist/banjo picker Jonny Barefoot's monthly music series. He calls it First Friday Fusion, but... don't be confused, there won't be any *Fusion* on offer. No Pandera covers or anything like that... Bennett-Kuroda will play a set or two, depending on the mood, Jonny will play some tunes, and we'll likely do something all together. Keep in mind, too, that although it's a bookstore, Infinity Books is also a bar serving up nice fresh pints of Bass Ale and, I believe, Yebisu. Come to Asakusa! |

This second one will find us doing one set, at the wonderful Cheshmeh in Sasazuka, as part of their 5th Anniversary celebrations. There'll be a lot of music and good times with good people, so come on out and support one of the best little venues you'll find in Tokyo town! Bennett-Kuroda is on from 9 to 9:30, but the entire event is ongoing from 15:00 to 13:00, so please see the Cheshmeh event page, at Facebook for more info on all other performers. SAT 11/17 : on WaveDrum, Solo and Trios with Matej and Leo Sai
at Cheshmeh, Sasazuka, Tokyo
18:30 open / 19:30 start - entry: 1 drink and PASS THE HAT for music
I've been hearing a lot of really good things about Slovakian musician and Tokyo resident Matej, who plays the amazing overtone flute known as the fuyara, as well as the shamisen of his adopted land of Japan. The night will consist of solos and duos and such from Matej, Leo Sai (on various Middle Eastern drums and frame drums), and myself. I'll be bringing the vintage KORG WaveDrum along, getting back once again to exploring the percussive side of my musical nature. Really looking forward to working with these folks!
