TUE 10/30 : THIRD PERSON
(Umezu Kazutoki & Samm Bennett + guest!)
at Otoya Kintoki, Nishi Ogikubo, Tokyo
3 min. from Nishi-Ogikubo station (JR Chuo line), North exit
Kishi-corpo B1F
2-2-14 Nishiogi-kita, Suginami-ku, Tokyo
TEL: 03-5382-2020
[email protected]
open: 18:30 - start: 19:30
entrance: 2600 yen
Third Person was originally a trio formed in New York City in the late 1980s by
Samm and cellist Tom Cora. The idea behind the group was that there would be
an ever-changing third member. They performed many, many concerts in New York, various locales in Europe and, importantly, in Tokyo, where saxophone wizard Umezu Kazutoki became, actually, the full time third member of the band.
Tom Cora passed away in 1993, which brought the band to an end... until now. Samm and Umezu-san have decided to rekindle the idea, and will, from here on
out, be performing together as Third Person, with an ever-changing third member,
as was the original modus operandi of the band.
This time around, their third member will be the wonderfully inventive violinist Katsui Yuji (from ROVO, among other projects).
Don't miss this first historic reunion of Samm and Umezu, as Third Person, in a concert dedicated to the late, great Tom Cora.
