Off the Rails: Old Train Wrecks Commemorated in Postcards
Hello friends, Samm Bennett here, with a collection of old postcards depicting train derailments. As long as there's been trains, there's been train wrecks, and I find it fascinating that these awful events were so often memorialized in photographs that became popular postcards to mail to friends or family around the world. Most of these are from the USA, but there are some from England and Europe as well. It was news, after all, and I reckon the local folk would always come out to get their own view of the twisted wreckage, and often to have their photos taken standing amongst the carnage. These postcards are all more than 100 years old, and offer us a glimpse of life in bygone days.
