That Guy In That Room!
Many of the TV shows I watched as a child had opening theme songs, wherein the song’s lyrics would explain the premise of the show, or explain the backstory. The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, The Addams Family and others all had theme songs that introduced the characters, and/or spelled out what had happened to create the situation. The theme song, then, was a primer, in musical form, on what you were about to watch. It’s a television tradition that’s long since died out, I believe, but I decided to revive it with this little theme for an imaginary TV show called “That Guy In That Room”. An absurd, minimalist, existential nightmare of a comedy show. This theme song explains the premise, and is designed to whet your appetite for viewing. Again and again, week after week! The only other thing I’ll say (cause, hey, the one minute song says it all, as it should) is that Christopher Walken should probably be the star of the show.
There's this guy Who sits in a room. He doesn't do anything But just stares at the wall. But every week towards the end of the show He gets up And takes a pratfall. Sometimes he lands on his face. Sometimes he lands on his butt. But afterwards he's always a little confused Like he don't know what from what! He's that guy in that room! And every week you'll get a sense Of your own impending doom From that guy in that room. In that room. In that room. |
