hear him . . . . drowning out the preacher preaching take me . . . down to where the nighttime lingers the hoodoo . . . got about a thousand fingers drew a bad card and i stepped outside woman whispered to me "gonna be a rough ride" she gave me a John the Conqueror root a half a burned dollar and a three piece suit midnight . . . slithered like a snake through my head outside . . . heard somebody drag a brass bed the bayou . . . ain't no place to take too lightly the hoodoo . . . wrap around your brain so tightly saw a man fall and another run woman started screaming "now the fun's begun" drew the Jack of Diamonds but it turned to smoke my brain started itching like some poison oak hold on . . . try keep your thoughts collected the hoodoo . . . might just keep you well protected cause evil . . . is feeding on your desperation the hoodoo . . . might just be your one salvation dunk your head in a bucket of tears morning ain't breaking for another five years black cat screeching now loud as he can but that ain't no preacher that's the hoodoo man |
